I’ll be writing on the following broad themes:
Increase Engagement about Research and Economics
Academic publishing is notoriously slow. By the time a paper comes out in a publication (often as much as two years after submission), I have moved on and have little interest in talking about or promoting the paper. The Grumpy Economist described how, now, economics makes its impact at the time of working paper publication, not at peer-reviewed publication.
With the permission of my co-authors, I will use this blog to announce new working papers and highlight research results here.
Also, topics of general economic interest, including policy analysis will appear from time-to-time.
Introduce Tools I’ve Built:
Since I jumped head-first into #rstats in 2012, I have learned how to build interactive web apps with Shiny. I’ve completed a few and have several ideas for more. I’ll introduce those here.
Document Data Science Tools I’m Learning:
It’s incredible how many free and high quality resources there are online to learn statistics and data analytics. As I learn new things, I’ll document them here for my own benefit and to promote resources I think are helpful.
Generally, Produce More and Consume Less:
I’m increasingly frustrated with myself for the amount of time I spend staring at a screen and scrolling through social media feeds when I could be doing something productive for myself and others.
You are so pretty. Goodluck with your blog
Nice!
